VAW-FREE DAGUPAN: 18-DAY CAMPAIGN TO END VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND CHILDREN 2025

The city government kicks off the observance of the 18-day Campaign to End Sexual and Gender-based Violence (SGBV)2025 on Monday, November 24, and carries the Philippine Commission on Women’s (PCW) national campaign theme “UNiTEd for a VAW-Free Philippines.”

Mayor Belen Fernandez, Acting City Mayor BK Kua, Committee on Women, Children and Family Relations, & Gender and Development chairman Tala Paras, GAD Focal Point System, Local Committee Against Trafficking and Violence Against Women and Children (LCAT-VAWC) together with Barangay VAWC Desk Officers and City Planning and Development Office led by Malen Bernadette Pilon will spearhead the event with a comprehensive set of initiatives and educational drives designed to strengthen community awareness about women’s rights and protective laws, programs such as “Lingap Dagupeña” and other grassroot activities that empower families, youth, and local organizations to become advocates of change.

Aligned with the global initiative of UN Women, this 18 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence from November 25 (International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) to December 12 (International Day Against Trafficking and the signing anniversary of the UN Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons) through Proclamation No. 1172, embody Dagupan’s unwavering commitment to building a city where women and children are safe, respected, and valued.
