DAGUPAN CITY – In cooperation with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the city’s Public Employment and Services Office (PESO) conducted a career coaching symposium for the grade 11 and 12 students of Salapingao National High School on August 7.
The career guidance seminar aims to prepare graduating students on their career options and guide them to choose the courses or degrees they would want to study in college. The symposium also provided employment steps and tips for students who aim to seek employment right after graduation.
PESO Manager Jocelyn Siapno disclosed the need to guide the senior high students as “they are yet in a formative stage.”
“This will guide them to choose whatever course they would take up in college.” added Siapno
Siapno also said that aside from career coaching, students were given the opportunity learn more about PESO Dagupan, its functions and the employment opportunities being made available by her office.
Mayor Belen T. Fernandez, in her message, dwelt on her past experiences as a working student and the decisions that led to her career choices.
Fernandez also encouraged the youth to weigh in their passions and aspirations when it comes to choosing their future careers.
“Follow your heart. Listen to your family’s suggestions and evaluate which path would bring you fulfillment because your inspirations will help you in having a stable job,” said Fernandez.
As part of the career guidance week, PESO Dagupan will be conducting career coaching symposium in all public high schools in the city, starting from the far-flung island barangays. (Verdelle De Vera/CIO)
