DAGUPAN CITY – The 2018 “Manlingkor Ya Kalangweran” officials served as storytellers to young students in several public schools in the city on June 25.

Led by 2018 Young City Mayor Jalen Kody Miles Fernandez, the MYKs visited students  of Calmay Elementary School, Malued Elementary School, Bliss Elementary School and North Central Elementary School for simultaneous story telling sessions.

Aside from reading stories, the MYKs also asked questions to the students and those who answered correctly were rewarded with school supplies.

This activity was part of the ‘Ate, Kuya Kwentuhan Mo Naman Kami’ program launched by the city government through the city library last year, initiated by 2017 MYK Young City Mayor Jilian Kay Madison Fernandez..

The  project aimed to develop the MYKs on how to tell stories and consequently enhance their leadership skills.

In the same occasion, feeding programs were also held during the sessions, with the young city leaders  serving free hot “misua” soup to the children.

The MYKs will continue to accompany Mayor Fernandez in rendering services to the public as part of their duties as young leaders of the city. (Verdelle De Vera/CIO)
