DAGUPAN CITY – Mayor Belen T. Fernandez warmly welcomed the re-launching of the Philippine National Police and Petron’s Lakbay Ligtas Project at Petron Gasoline Station in Barangay Lucao here on October 24.

The Lakbay Ligtas Project is very timely as we will soon have our new government and growth center, thus, maintaining peace and order is very important for a booming city like Dagupan, said Fernandez as she encouraged Petron to have more of this project within the strategic areas of the city in keeping with their Corporate Social Responsibility programs.

Fernandez said that the project will be a big help for the city because maintaining peace and order is not just the sole responsibility of the city and the Dagupan City Police Station under the leadership of Police Superintendent Franklin O. Ortiz but also of the citizenry and corporations like Petron.

“The re-launching of this project is a manifestation of Petron’s support to the city government’s program in keeping Dagupan safe, peaceful and orderly,” said Fernandez.

Through the project, Petron offers its service stations like the one in Barangay Lucao for the set up of Police Outpost.

The outpost will be patrolled by policemen daily and will be utilized to attend to complaints and concerns of residents.

It will also be used for posting and distribution of crime prevention leaflets and drop off point of relief goods during calamities.

“This will enable our policemen to immediately respond to emergency situations and will increase police visibility as crime prevention,” said Fernandez.

Fernandez disclosed that the city itself has already organized its B.E.L.E.N. 911, which delivers services in emergency cases in a jiffy.

The re-launching was attended by Pangasinan Police Provincial Director Police Senior Superintendent Ronald Oliver Lee; Police Superintendent Feliciano Gubatan, Acting Chief, RHSG, PRO1; the different chiefs of police from nearby towns and municipalities; Christopher G. Cruz, PETRON area sales manager of North West Luzon, lawyer Kat Nicdao of Petron’s Corporate Affairs Department; and City Councilor Jeslito Seen.

The different force-multipliers and the Barangay Officials led by Councilor Marcelino Fernandez were also present during the re-launching. (Joseph C. Bacani/CIO/Oct. 24, 2017)
