MBTF JOINS WCCD GLOBAL CITIES SUMMIT IN DUBAI

DAGUPAN CITY –Mayor Belen T. Fernandez has left for Dubai to attend the Global Cities Summit 2017 at Hotel Armani in Dubai on March 7 to 9.

Mayor Fernandez is joined by Melykhen Bauzon of the city’s Public Alert and Response Monitoring Center in that summit.

This was upon the invitation extended  by the World Council on City Data (WCCD) through Senator Art Eggleton of Canada, Chairman, Global City Leaders Advisory Board of WCCD and Dr. Patricia McCarney, president and Chief Executive Officer of WCCD.

The invitation was given as Dagupan is being eyed to become ISO 37120 certified and  join the global network dedicated to building more sustainable, prosperous, resilient and smart cities.

Anchored on the theme Cities on the Global Stage – Data as the Universal Language, the summit is 2017’s preeminent global gathering on data-driven cities committed to a more sustainable and inclusive prosperity and being attended by prominent guests and speakers from around the world.

The Global Cities Summit also serves as an opportunity for cities and global partners to learn, share and exchange experiences across a wide spectrum of big ideas and innovative solutions for cities.

The WCCD has created the first international certification system and Global Cities Registry for ISO 37120, a new globally comparative international standard on city metrics and the first ISO standard on city indicators, developed by cities, for cities.

Cities certified in accordance with ISO 37120 will be recognized in the WCCD Global Cities Registry. It also allows city-to-city comparisons and displays data using cutting-edge visualizations and tailored trend analyses.

Through this, the cities can build sustainable, prosperous, liveable and smart cities through verified data. (Joseph C. Bacani/CIO/March 6, 2017)
