DAGUPAN CITY – Mayor Belen Fernandez played Santa Claus anew when she distributed gifts to more than 50 children at the Health Center of Barangay Bonuan Binloc – Sitio Korea on December 29.
The gift-giving was made possible through the close partnership between the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Dagupan and Saint Vincent Ferrer Parish Youth Choir.
The year-end event was an annual program held by the youth choirs from St. John Cathedral Church, and Mayor Fernandez.
The mayor expressed her approval of the group’s chosen recipients, saying: “I really have the passion for children, and I’m very happy that the youth of the Church came out with a program for them. I’m very happy that they selected Sitio Korea.”
Mayor Fernandez revealed that Sitio Korea is also one of the priorities of the city government, having established various improvements in the area such as a health center, a daycare center, and core houses for families living in the dump sites.
She also used the program as an opportunity to inform the parents of the barangay about the free mobile late registration program called “Lehitimo Ako, Batang Dagupeno” which allows parents the opportunity to legitimize their children born out of wedlock.
She urged the parents to coordinate with their local barangay officials to learn more about the program and on how to participate.
In that occasion, Mayor Fernandez revealed her plans and upcoming projects for the youth of the city for the coming 2018. (Marie Verdelle Jenica M. De Vera/CIO/Dec. 29, 2017)
