Mayor Belen T. Fernandez led the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) Summit held on Wednesday afternoon, August 27, at the CSI Stadia, recognizing the PTA as a vital partner of the City Government and the Department of Education (DepEd) in improving the quality of education and the learning environment of Dagupeño students.
With the theme “Improving the Learning Environment of Learners through Partnership of LGU and PTA,” PTA presidents, together with their respective school heads, were given the opportunity to present their priority projects directly to the mayor.
The summit provided the Local Government Unit (LGU) with valuable insights into the needs of students, aligned with Mayor Fernandez’s vision of ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment.
Since Mayor Belen’s first term in 2013, numerous projects have been realized through LGU–PTA collaboration. Following her re-election in 2022, 23 school buildings have already been completed as a result of previous PTA summits, while the construction of 14 more school buildings is currently underway.
The activity was attended by Vice Mayor Dean Bryan Kua; Councilor Michael Fernandez, Chairman on Education; Councilor Tala Paras, Chairman on Women and Children; City Engineer Josephine Corpuz; and DepEd SDO Dagupan officials headed by Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Rowena C. Banzon; Dr. Edilberto Abalos, School Governance & Operations Division Chief; Dr. Vladimir Parayno, Senior Education Program Specialist and Division PTA Focal Person; Dagupan Federation of PTA (DFPTA) led by President Ronald Allan Y. Uson; DFPTA Vice President Alexander Gonzales; former DFPTA President Gerry Pradez and Kagawad Imelda Gonzales; DFPTA officers and members; as well as principals of various schools across the city.
