DAGUPAN CITY – The Federation of Senior Citizens Association of the Philippines (FSCAP) – Dagupan City chapter conducted a mini concert for the elderly during the celebration of the Elderly Filipino Week Celebration for 2017 on the theme, “Pagkilala sa Kakayahan, Ambag at Paglahok ng mga Nakatatanda sa Lipunan”.

The activity  was initiated by Councilor Jeslito “Jigs” Seen, chairman of the Arts, Culture Heritage Committee, together  with the office of the city’s Arts, Culture Heritage headed by Zenaida Sinlao, the FSCAP office headed by Luz Gemeniano and the Office of the Senior Citizens Affair headed by lawyer Cornelia Español.

Senior citizens from different barangays with talents in singing (choral, duet and vocal solo), playing musical instruments and other literary activities were tapped to perform.

Each barangay were clustered into five groups and each cluster was given a day to perform in a mini concert dubbed as “Dunong Legay Bilay”.

The last of the five clusters  showcased their talents at the senior citizens park despite the downpour, singing different Pangasinan songs like  “Malinak Lay Lab”i, “Galikin”, “Say Galang na Senior Citizens”:, “Walay Gugustoen Ko”, “Matalag ya Agew”, “Mansimpit Ka Sirin”, and “Pasantabi”.

A group of elders also rendered a modern dance and a Hawaiian dance number and instrumental repertoires in accordion and piano.
