DAGUPAN CITY – The Department of Education (DepEd) – Schools Division Office (SDO) Dagupan was formally awarded ISO 9001:2015 certification from representatives of TÜV Rheinland during the World Teachers’ Day celebration held at CSI Stadia on October 3.
The certification means that SDO Dagupan attained the international standard and requirements for a quality management system. The scope of the certification includes the provision of Curriculum Implementation, School Governance and Operations, and General Administrative Support Services.
The ISO Certification is an accreditation conducted by an external certifying body to ensure that an organization performs its processes with international standards.
Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Lorna G. Bugayong, in her message, dedicated the achievement to all teachers in the city.
“As we have said, we have successfully hurdled all of the challenges thrown at us (as we are now ISO certified). We dedicate these sacrifices and challenges that we have hurdled, to you, our dear teachers, ” said Dr. Bugayong.
She also thanked Mayor Belen T. Fernandez for her continuous support to the youth and education.
Meanwhile, Mayor Fernandez acknowledged the countless sacrifices made by teachers in her speech, citing the educators as critical partners in guiding the Dagupeno youth.
“It is not disputed that for the last five years, Dagupan has always given the love and support to teachers who rightfully deserve them. As educators, you build the capacity of the spirit of inquiry, creativity and moral leadership of our children. In fact, you become their role models. Dagupan shall always be in good and steady hands for as long as we have the kind of dedication and commitment that our teachers have,” added Fernandez.
Mayor Fernandez also officiated the oath-taking of the inducted officers of the Federated Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) headed by Kgd. Imelda Gonzales of Bonuan Buquig National High School.
Numerous fun activities lined up for the teachers’ enjoyment followed after the awarding of the ISO Certification.
A ballroom dance presentation was given by officials and members of SDO Dagupan, which was followed by other dance presentations from different districts.
This year’s Best Implementers of Brigada Eskwela and service awardees were also given recognition before the candidates for the search for Mr. and Ms. World Teachers’ Day 2018 were presented.
The World Teachers’ Day was the culminating activity of the yearly celebration of National Teachers’ Month, celebrated from September 5 to October 5. (Verdelle De Vera/CIO)
