DEPED DAGUPAN, TEACHERS PROMOTE FITNESS IN FUN RUN

DAGUPAN CITY – The Department of Education (DepEd) Dagupan, along with all public school teachers in the city, are taking an active role in staying fit and healthy through the  “Takbo Para Sa Guro” fun run on September 9.

More than 5,000 participants comprising of teachers, DepEd  officials, parents and students joined in the activity spearheaded by the Bonuan Boquig National High School (BBNHS).

A Zumba dance exercise was held at CSI Stadia helipad before the participants could run in 1K, 2K, 3K and 5K distances along the De Venecia Highway Extension.

The fun run was conducted by the Schools Divison Office (SDO) Dagupan through Dagupan City Public Schools Teachers and Employees Association (DCPSTEA).

Its main purpose was geared towards encouraging all teachers, students and community stakeholders in the city to be physically fit and health conscious.

The initiative is also considered as an initial step towards the implementation of annual health and medical support for all teachers.

“Takbo Para Sa Guro” was the second major activity held in celebration of the World and National Teachers’ Day Celebration following its kick off ceremony on September 20.

The culminating activity of World Teacher’s Day Celebration will be held at CSI Stadia on October 3, where SDO Dagupan’s ISO 9001:2015 certification given by the World Certifying Body will be formally awarded to their office. (Verdelle De Vera/CIO)
