DAGUPAN CITY – The Dagupan City Sports Commission (DCSC), in partnership with the Philippine Sports Commission and the Philippine Sports Institute, conducted a five-day sports science seminar for coaches and sports advisers in the city at CSI Stadia from November 26 to 30.

This is the second sports science seminar conducted by the DCSC, attended by at least 230 participants from public and private schools.

Through the seminar, sports coaches were able to learn more about sports-related topics such as sports nutrition, strength and conditioning, sports physiology and first aid, among others.

Regional Director Edwin Llanes of the Philippine Sports Institute shared said  the seminar equipped the coaches with more information and skills on how to prepare their athletes for events and competitions.

“Sports training is scientific. There are a lot of factors going on in preparing our athletes such as their nutrition and physical and mental conditioning. In this seminar, our coaches will know different techniques other than just regular training,” added Llanes.

Winning coaches from this year’s division meet also attended the training seminar as this would also serve as preparation for the coming Region I Athletic Association meet.

The city will be defending its title as champion and best performing delegation during the competition. (Verdelle De Vera/CIO)
