DAGUPEÑOS RECEIVE AID AMID MASSIVE FLOODING

DAGUPAN CITY – With the help of several public and private individuals and organizations, the local government headed by Mayor Belen T. Fernandez is continuously conducting simultaneous relief operations in different flood-affected areas of the city.

At least 3,000 packs of relief goods given by friends of Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go were distributed to families residing in critical areas such as Lasip Grande, Lasip Chico and Pogo Grande.

Food packs coming from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) were also distributed to evacuees in the city’s designated evacuation centers, now sheltering at least 543 families or 1,846 individuals.

Boysen Paints Philippines also provided shirts for at least 1,400 families.

Meanwhile, Dagupeno clean up volunteers in their respective barangays were also given food packs for their services.

This, after the city was hit by extreme flooding for the second time in less than a month. The inundation was brought about by high tide and a month’s equivalent  of heavy rains dumped in the city during three days of continuous downpour last weekend.

The inflow of water from the Sinocalan River and the release of water from the San Roque dam have also contributed to the flooding in the city.

Due to the heavy rains, Dagupan and most areas in Pangasinan are currently submerged in floodwater.

Relief operations will continue in the city to ensure that flood-affected families will continue to receive aid. (Verdelle De Vera/CIO)
