Dagupan’s market revenue collection increases by P10-M

DAGUPAN CITY – The city’s Market Division posted a significant increase of P10.1 million in its market revenue collections in the first three months of Mayor Brian Lim’s administration.

Market supervisor Aguedo Sta. Maria said that the total collections from July 1 to September 30 this year was P28.4 million, way higher than the P18.2 million collected on the same period last year.

“We just had to come up with strategies to increase our collections, such as close supervision of the collectors,” Sta. Maria said.

He said that everytime a collector posted a lower collection for the day, he immediately called him or her to discuss and implement a plan on how to increase the collection the next day.

Sta. Maria also said that there had been no increase in the prices of cash tickets issued to market vendors.

In the last three months, Sta. Maria said that his office collected some P5 million from cash tickets alone, doubling their collection of P2.6 million on the same period last year.

“Hindi tayo nag-increase sa price pero nadagdagan po ang ating vendors,“ Sta. Maria said.

He said that the market revenue collection will be used for the maintenance and elevation of the Malimgas Market.

“Itinaas po nila ang Galvan at ang Fernandez (streets) at marami na rin po tayong ire-repair, tulad ng mga generator set natin at aircon, kasi almost 10 years na rin po ang mga ‘yan,” Sta. Maria said. (/DagupanPIO)
