DAGUPAN CITY – City Engineer Virginia V. Rosario has been elected as the national president of the City and Municipal Engineers Association of the Philippines during an election that coincided with the association’s 11th National Convention at the Grand Menseng Hotel in Davao City.

From among the 18 members of the association, Rosario is the only woman in the group who was the unanimous choice to succeed Immediate Past President Engineer Audie B. Bacasmas of the Talisay City, Cebu.

Rosario’s election was lauded by Mayor Belen T. Fernandez, saying this is a manifestation of her proven leadership as Dagupan’s city engineer.

Rosario said she was humbled by the trust and confidence bestowed upon her by the members of the association.

She expressed her gratitude to Mayor Fernandez for the support and inspiration given her owing to the numerous infrastructure projects being implemented in the city through the city engineer’s office.

As the new president, a position she is going to hold until 2020, Rosario intends to make an appeal to the different national government agencies to include their organization in the national planning of projects and infrastructures in the countryside before these are going to be   implemented.

“It is equally important that our city and municipal engineers be included and fully participate in the planning and implementation of national projects in the countryside and also for proper coordination” said Rosario.

Rosario is also currently the president of the Philippine Association of Building Officials – Pangasinan Chapter and a member of the Board of Directors of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers.
