DAGUPAN CITY–The city of Dagupan has been conferred five significant awards on the occasion of the 2nd Cities and Municipalities Competitive Index Recognition Ceremony at the CSI Stadia held during the Rimat Ti Amianan Regional Trade Fair at CSI Atrium.

These awards were conferred by the Regional Competitiveness Committee (RCC) of Region 1 composed of the Department of Trade and Industry and the Department of Interior and Local Government, and the private sector.

The awards were received by City Councilor Jeslito C. Seen in behalf of Mayor Belen T. Fernandez who was in Davao City attending the general assembly of the League of Cities of the Philippines.

The awards were for : 1) Most Improved Component City from rank 19 in 2015 to rank 15 in 2016 in the 2016 Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index; 2) 15th place Nationwide Overall Competitiveness (Component Cities) and 1st Place in Region 1; 3) 13th place Nationwide in Government Efficiency (Component Cities) and 1st Place in Region 1; 4) 17th Place Nationwide in Economic Dynamism and 1st Place in Region 1; and 5) 28th Place Nationwide in Infrastructure(Component Cities) and 2nd in Region 1.

The awards were presented by Nelson N. Yuchongtian, Private Sector Representative co-chair, Regional Competitiveness Committee Region 1; Julie J. Daquioag, Regional Director, DILG Region 1; and Florante O. Leal, Regional Director, DTI Region 1 and chairman of the RCC Region 1.
