DAGUPAN PNP CONDUCTS SEMINAR FOR BARANGAY TANODS

DAGUPAN CITY – Members of the Barangay Peace Action Team in all the 31 barangays, clustered into six groups, underwent a one-day training/seminar given by the  Dagupan City Police Station at the city museum on September 11-14.
Police Superintendent Franklin O. Ortiz said that at least 633 BPAT members, who included barangay tanods, force multipliers and the chairman of the barangay peace and order in every barangay were invited to attend the seminar.
The participants were oriented on the principles of barangay peacekeeping, duties of first responders and crime scene preservation, community awareness on terrorism, handling violence against women and children incidents, arresting techniques, disarming techniques and IED (Improvised Explosive Device).
The participants were also lectured on radio communications, while the City Population Office through Population Program Officer IV Doc Kim Paras and Population Program Officer 1 Priscilla B. Gonzales conducted lecture on “Kalalakihang Tapat sa Obligasyon sa Pamilya” or KATROPA program of the city.
Ortiz added that a next batch of BAT members will undergo similar seminar on September 18-19 at the same place.
Mayor Belen T. Fernandez lauded the efforts of the Dagupan Police and assured her support to all the barangay tanods by providing them with the necessary equipment that they need while patrolling the streets in their respective barangays in order to maintain peace and order and in the protection of women and children.
“We will do our part of providing you with the necessary equipment because mahirap din na kayo ay nag-duduty na wala man lang magamit na anuman para ma-maintain ang peace and order sa inyong barangay. Naging positive and reaction ng ilang mga dayuhan na nasa ating lungsod tungkol sa ating kampanya sa peace and order dahil sa suportang ibinigay natin sa ating kapulisan kaya I would like to congratulate our PNP under P/Supt. Ortiz for a job well done,” said Fernandez.
Fernandez was referring to the recent visitation of the Thailand Ambassador in the city who narrated to the mayor how their citizens who are in the city to study spoke well of the city’s peace and order aside from being clean and stress-free to stay. (Joseph C. Bacani/CIO/Sept. 13, 2017)
