DAGUPAN CITY – Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) announced on Monday, October 7, 2019, that Dagupan City garnered a 95 percent rating during the recently concluded validation of road clearing operations.
“I would like to congratulate the City of Dagupan; hopefully tuloy-tuloy na po ito, hindi na lang po sana 95 percent, kung hindi 100 percent na po,” said Marilyn B. Laguito, DILG city director during the flag-raising ceremony at the city plaza.
On July 29, 2019, the DILG issued Memorandum Circular 2019-121 directing all governors, mayors, and punong barangays to reclaim public roads, rid them of illegal structures and constructions, rehabilitate them by placing street names and street lights, and carry out strategies to address possible displacement issues.
The operations targeted public roads used as basketball courts, parking spaces or occupied by vendor stalls or barangay structures.
The instruction came from President Rodrigo Duterte during his 4th State of the Nation Address.
Mayor Brian Lim thanked the different city government offices involved in the road clearing activities.
“It’s not because of me. The road clearing operations became successful because of the hard work of our Anti-Hawking, Public Order and Safety Office, City Engineering Office, and Waste Management Division, with the help of our Philippine National Police Dagupan, and of course our barangay officials who cooperated,” said Mayor Lim during the flag-raising ceremony.
