In recognition of the city’s efforts in institutionalising Child-Friendly Local Governance, Dagupan City was hailed as a finalist in the 2025 Presidential Award for Child-Friendly Cities, under the Independent Component City Category, held on December 22 at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City.
As a finalist, a plaque of recognition was conferred to the city, which was proudly received by Mayor Belen T. Fernandez, Vice Mayor Dean Bryan “BK” Kua, Councilor Christel Hilary “Tala” Paras, DILG Dagupan CLGOO Royolita Prangan Rosario, Pantal Barangay Captain Julie Perez, Caranglaan Barangay Captain Gregorio “Jun” Claveria, Bolosan Barangay Captain Nancy Morris, CSWDO OIC Irene Ferrer, CSWDO personnel Patrick and his wife, and CPDO personnel Natacia Rimorin Dizon.
Out of the 1,600 LGUs evaluated for the 2025 Seal of Child Friendly Local Governance Audit, Dagupan City emerged as one of the national finalists, having successfully passed the comprehensive screening and national deliberations under the Independent Component Cities category.
Mayor Belen expressed her utmost gratitude, noting that this recognition serves as a lasting responsibility in creating a secure and inclusive community for every child in the city.
“In Dagupan, being child-friendly is more than a title. It is a daily commitment to defend children’s rights, listen to their voices, and build a safe, caring, and supportive community where every child can grow without fear,” the local chief executive shared in her Facebook post.
Among the city’s notable projects in promoting children’s rights and activities are the Goodbye Gutom Feeding Program, Unaen Su Mairap Bilay (UNB), Alagang Healthy Dagupeno Medical Missions, Junior Health Advocate, Renovation of the Teen Center, Manlingkor Ya Kalangweran Milpitas Goodwill Visit and the annual Children’s Summit.
