CITY SEEKS SEN. PACQUIAO’S SUPPORT FOR A GYM

DAGUPAN CITY – The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) passed on February 1 during its regular session a resolution requesting Senator Manny Pacquiao to extend financial assistance to the city government to subsidize the cost of constructing a gymnasium.

The gymnasium will be the first sport facility to be built in the city and will be named as ‘Manny Pacquiao Gymnasium’.

Councilor Alvin T. Coquia, author of the resolution,  disclosed that while the city is the center of trade, commerce and industry, educational and health institutions as well as huge business establishments, the city, however, is still devoid of a gymnasium where the city’s athletes can carry out their training in pursuit of their goals to excel in sports.

Recognizing the benevolence and passion of the senator in sports, the SP believes that the only remedial measure that will undoubtedly realize the construction of the gymnasium of the city is asking the senator in extending financial assistance for its construction.

To honor the senator in his achievements in the field of boxing, the gymnasium will be named after him, said Coquia. (Joseph C. Bacani/CIO/Feb. 2, 2017)
