As part of the 2025 Bangus Festival culminating activities, the City of Dagupan continued its month-long celebration by grilling 25,000 Bangus (Milkfish) during the 2025 Kalutan ed Dalan held at the Judge Jose de Venecia Highway Extension on Wednesday, April 30.

Dubbed the Bangus Capital of the Philippines, the city surpassed its grilled Bangus record from the previous Kalutan ed Dalan event with an additional 5,000 upgrade from the 20,000 pieces of Bangus grilled last year.

Mayor Belen Fernandez, together with Vice Mayor Dean Bryan “BK” Kua, led the ceremonial lighting of grills as a symbol of the city’s vibrant cultural landscape and identity in Bangus farming and trade.

Among those who joined the local chief executive in the ceremonial lighting of grills were Senator Grace Poe, Senator Francis Tolentino represented by Jeb Tolentino, Senator Bong Revilla represented by Actress Wilma Doesnt, Abono Partylist Representative Congressman Robert “Eskimo” Estrella, Las Piñas Representative Congresswoman Camille Villar, Former 4th District Representative Congresswoman Manay Gina de Venecia, Milpitas City, USA Vice Mayor Garry Barbadillo ESQ, Ninai Chavez, City Councilors, LGU Department Heads and Employees, Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Councils, and Visitors and Guests from all over the region.

𝗕𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗨𝗦𝗔𝗡 𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗘𝗧 𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗬 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱: 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿-𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀

Slated on the same day, the much anticipated Bangusan Street Party, consisting of nine different concert stages, upheld its record from last year, garnering a million combined viewers from both online and offline platforms.

Headlining the CSI Stage (1) are Pinoy Big Brother: Otso 5th Big Placer Fumiya & PBB Gen 11 Big Winner Sofia “Fyang” Smith alongside OPM legends Sponge Cola, Karylle, Tj Monterde, KZ Tandingan, Rico Blanco and Ian Veneracion.

Several artists also joined in with different activities taking place in the rest of the stages:

CITY WELCOMES MILPITAS CITY VICE MAYOR GARRY BARBADILLO, ESQ!

The city government of Dagupan, headed by Mayor Belen T. Fernandez, warmly welcomes Hon. Vice Mayor Garry Barbadillo, ESQ., official representative of the City of Milpitas, California, USA, during the regular flag-raising ceremony held at the City Plaza today, Monday, April 28.

Milpitas’ Vice Mayor’s visit in the city serves as a testament towards the strong sister-city ties between the Milpitas and Dagupan which is now celebrating its 25th Year of Sister City Relations.

“On behalf of the City of Milpitas, I would like to sincerely thank our Sister City, The City of Dagupan (Philippines), Mayor Belen T. Fernandez, the members of the City Council and their staff for welcoming the City of Milpitas to their city.” Milpitas Vice Mayor expressed through his official Facebook post who arrived here in the city on April 25th and joined the festivities during the Bangus Festival Gilon-Gilon ed Baley last Saturday and Bangus Rodeo earlier today.

“Isang malaking karangalan po sa aming mga Dagupeños ang makasalamuha at makasama kayo sa aming kasiyahan sa pagdiriwang ng taunang Bangus Festival. Please, consider this city your second home!”, Mayor Belen stated.

Dagupan City Legal Officer, Atty. Aurora E. Valle together with the Dagupan LGU department heads and chiefs of the national government agencies in the city also joined Milpitas Vice Mayor Barbadillo during his official visit at the Dagupan City Hall.

On November 27, 2023, representatives from both cities signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) during Dagupan’s visit to Milpitas, USA to solidify their commitment to collaboration and cultural exchange.

BACK TO BACK WIN FOR LASIP CHICO, LUCAO, MALUED, PANTAL, AND TAPUAC (CLUSTER 6) AT THE 2025 GILON GILON ED BALEY COMPETITION

In celebration of the city’s annual Bangus Festival, Cluster 6 composed of Barangays Lasip Chico, Lucao, Malued, Pantal, and Tapuac defended their title as overall Champions as they reigned supreme in the 2025 Gilon Gilon ed Baley Competition held at the City Plaza on Saturday evening, April 26.

With their winning “Salamat Gilon” ensemble, the group triumphed over the 26 barangays, taking home a total of 200,000 pesos cash prize as well as garnering the “Best Street Dancing” title with an additional cash prize of 50,000 pesos.

Cluster 3 composed of One Bonuan Barangays (Bonuan Gueset, Bonuan Boquig, and Bonuan Binloc) was hailed as the 1st Runner up, while Cluster 2 (Bolosan, Mamalingling, Mangin, Salisay, Tambac, and Tebeng) and Cluster 4 (Brgy. I, Brgy. II & III, Brgy. IV, Lasip Grande, Pogo Grande, and Pogo Chico) bagged the 2nd Runner Up and 3rd Runner Up titles respectively.

The Gilon Gilon ed Baley dancing competition focuses on highlighting the fishermen’s style of harvesting milkfish, the city’s main product, while honoring the city’s patron saint, St. John the Evangelist.
