DAGUPAN CITY – A total of 620 beneficiaries from all 31 barangays of Dagupan who worked under the Cash for Work program received their stipends from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on November 7.
The Cash for Work program is a short-term intervention implemented by the DSWD to provide temporary employment to distressed or displaced individuals by allowing them to participate in projects and activities in their respective communities.
Chosen beneficiaries of the livelihood assistance program were indigent citizens and members of the 4Ps who each received P2,100 as their respective stipends for 10 days of work.
The participants were harnessed to clean their communities and in de-clogging silted drainage, esteros and waterways that were clogged and silted during the floods caused by the recurrent monsoons and typhoons.
The program of the DSWD was in support of the city government’s Risk Resiliency Program for Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation.
For its part, the city government provided the participants with the tools that they needed in their 10-day work. (Verdelle De Vera/CIO)
