53 FISHERFOLKS OBTAIN LICENSE TO OPERATE FISHING STRUCTURES

DAGUPAN CITY – At least 53 local fishermen from Barangay Salapingao are now permitted by the city government to legally operate fishing structures along the city rivers after signing an Aqua Lease Agreement and upon payment of their business permits.

The city expects at least 122 fisherfolks in the area to avail of the mobile registration before proceeding to the island barangays of Lomboy, Salapingao, Calmay, Carael and on to Lucao.

The City Agriculture Office and the One-Stop Business Center (OSBC) have already been to Salapingao on two occasions, on January 25 and again on February 7 with Mayor Belen T. Fernandez and Councilor Marcelino Fernandez, chairman Barangay Affairs Committee.

The mobile registration aims to give local fisherfolks the chance to legalize their ownership for operating a fish cage, skylab, surewin or skyblue and batikwas and ensure that these are in accordance with the provisions of the city’s fishery ordinance.

Each applicant is issued with a business plate which they must hang in their respective fish structures. (Joseph C. Bacani/CIO/Feb. 7, 2018)
